Birds Eye Productions 2015 Aerial Show Reel Released!

The 2015 year for Birds Eye Productions was an amazing one. We traveled to some spectacular locations around the world and were able to film some truly unique experiences along the way. 2 of the most fun shoots last year were the 29 days in Africa and the Recoil III shoot in Tacoma Washington. Both of these shoots tested us in new ways by presenting new challenges in how we needed to fly to get the shots requested.

In Mozambique we were asked to follow herds of animals across the floodplains. We also were asked to film full-size aircraft in a variety of different scenarios. This presented us with a very unique challenge mainly to ensure the safety of the pilots who participated in these shots. Before anyone ever took off, we had a very detailed plan of where everyone was going to be and what would happen if anything got out of hand. Luckily there were never any close calls and the footage we got from this turned out spectacular!

We used a variety of cameras and copters to shoot last year. These include the DJI Inspire 1, FreeFly Systems ALTA with MoVI, and our custom built SynDrones X8 with MoVI. The cameras used ranged from the built in X3 from the Inspire 1 to the RED Epic Dragon. We have the ability to film and fly all over the world and can accommodate almost any camera.

This year Birds Eye Productions pilot Josh Lambeth finished his FAA required pilot certificate and is now 100% legal to fly within the United States National Airspace. This is a big deal as most companies within the states do not have this and it is required. If you need aerials on your next project please contact us today. 2015 BEP Show Reel Released! Aerial Video Service

Birds Eye Productions would like to present to you our latest show reel. This is a small collection of shots from our different shoots over the last 11 months. This is just a small sample of what we have done and what we can do. There were a wide range of cameras used in this reel along with many different lenses.

Lenses ranged from:
12mm-85mm from Rokinon, Canon, ARRI, and Zeiss.

A few of the shots are with out 85mm Rokinon at a 1.4x crop which puts it closer to 120mm.
90% of these shots were done using our MoVI camera gimbal. None of the MoVI shots have been stabilized in post including the 85mm shots.

Do you like Skittles and Football? Yeah we do too!

A few weeks ago, Birds Eye Productions got asked to go shoot some aerials for Skittles! They were producing their first ever Superbowl commercial and wanted to make it “Awesomer.” They invited football star Kurt Warner to be the star of the commercial and brought out 9,000lbs of Skittles! It was one of the most fun shoots we have ever been a part of.

Birds Eye Productions is now the only SYNDrones distributor in the USA!

We are proud to announce that we are now the only USA distributor of the amazing SYNDrones frames. These frames are built in Holland and offer professional AP companies the highest quality frame for their demanding shoots. Here are a few key features of these frames:

Vibration Dampened Gimbal Plate

All our frames come equipped with our special 3mm thick vibration dampening camera gimbal plate designed to fit a wide variety of camera gimbals. We also provide separate plates for the DJI Zenmuse Z15 and Zenmuse H3-2D. It comes pre-fitted to the center frame and includes an anti-vibration system used to remove unwanted high frequency shakes and “jello”.

Loads of Space

Space is not an issue on a Syndrones frame. Our large multi-level center plates are large enough to pack all your electronics with extra space left for future installments and upgrades.

GPS Tray

The GPS tray is conveniently situated to mount your compass and GPS module away from any electrical or magnetic interference.

Battery Trays

Large dual battery trays are located on either side of the center plate for perfect balance and CG. Removing the battery placement from the conventional top of center plate frees up more space and provides for battery redundancy.

Simple To Assemble

Our frames are assembled and tested at our factory before being shipping. All that’s required when you receive your new frame is to attach the booms to the center plate and tighten the stainless steel screws.

Super Strong Frame

Diamond Weave extra strong carbon fiber booms for our SYN-6 HL, SYN-X8 and SYN-8 HL. 1.5mm Thickness on the boom hulls, stainless steel screws and strong white G10 boards for the center plate, gimbal plate and motor mounts.

ESPN Superbowl XLIX Promo Shoot and the FreeFly Systems MoVI

Last night we had an awesome time shooting a new Superbowl XLIX promotional video at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale Arizona! The production hired us to use our MoVI camera stabilizer to help them get some great shots of their talent entering the field. We loaded up our MoVI with a bunch of awesome equipment. Here is a quick picture of our setup:

The MoVI was loaded with the following:

– RED EPIC PL Mount
– Super Speed Ultra Primes (18mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm)
– Bartech Wireless Follow-Focus
– ARRI 4×5 Matte Box
– Microphone for audio Sync
– RED Touch Screen
– Paralinx Wireless HD Video Link

We powered the EPIC via a V-Mount battery which I wore on my belt. I ran a long, custom built cable to the EPIC to allow us to run the camera for longer periods of time then you would get if you just used the side-handle. I also was powering the MoVI via a large (5,000mAh 4s) lipo battery. We shot for 7 hours and only changed the battery once, and that was during the last 30 minutes of the shoot. I had this battery in a pocket as well to help keep the weight down on the MoVI.

The shoot went really really well. We literally did every shot that evening on the MoVI. This allowed the shoot to move on quicker due to not needing to setup and tear down other camera movement systems.

Birds Eye Productions Now Offers MoVI Rentals!

BEP has decided to go with the best camera stabilizer currently on the market by purchasing a FreeFly Systems MoVI! We will be offering it for rent (with tech) at a very affordable price! We are able to carry cameras including the RED EPIC. This will allow for gorgeous shots with minimal setup-time. We have tested with lenses up to 85mm at 1.5x crop which effectively makes for 128mm focal length. Even at this focal length the footage looks amazing! Here is a real quick teaser from one of our first shoots.

New Show Reel!

We, at Birds Eye Productions, have been working a lot in the last 7 months. We have had some amazing opportunities to travel around the country and even outside of the country to shoot for all different types of industries. We have taken a small handful of clips from different shoots and compiled this short video.

During these shoots we used a variety of different cameras. We used everything from DSLRs up to the RED EPIC.

Make-A-Wish

Last month, Birds Eye was able to be apart of a very special event involving a 7-year-old kid named Alex. He has been battling cancer and has always had a wish to become Robin and help fight crime with Batman. We were able to help document his wish as it became a reality. It was an amazing experience and we wish Alex and his family the best with his battle!

Gary King’s “Unnerved” Premiere Sizzle

Last week, Birds Eye Productions had the pleasure to work with director Gary King on his latest feature film “Unnerved.” We shot for 2 days in the beautiful state of Maine. During this shoot Birds Eye provided a lot of different shots, some being unconventional in the sense that they weren’t really aerials. We don’t want to give away any details but check out this awesome sizzle reel for his new film.

Birds Eye also used our new SteadiFly handheld gimbal stabilizer on multiple shots. Gary and the crew were impressed at how well it worked for the shots they needed!
